‘Toy Story 5’ Trailer Teases Toys Vs. Tech Storyline With Greta Lee Voicing Lilypad

UPDATE, Feb, 19: Toy Story 5 now has a full trailer, which reunites Woody, Jessie and Buzz to fight Lilypad’s (Greta Lee) shenanigans.

The clip starts with Bonnie enacting a wedding ceremony between Forky (Tony Hale) and Karen Beverly with the happy couple becoming “husband and knife.” Then a package comes in the mail, and Bonnie’s eyes get that glossy sheen when she first lays them on Lilypad, a tech tablet about to disrupt the style of play and toys’ existence as they know it.

“Extinction, not again!” Rex, the green dinosaur toy exclaims.

Voiced by Greta Lee, Lilypad vies for all of Bonnie’s attention even though her parents seem to want to limit screentime. Meanwhile, Lilypad shows off some transcription and translation skills when Jessie (Joan Cusack) tries to chat with her.

Jessie reaches out to Woody (Tom Hanks) via walkie talkie to ask if he is seeing the same thing happen elsewhere with toys. Then Woody reunites with his former band of playmates and has a nostalgic encounter with Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen).

The pair get back into their chummy bickering as they undertake tasks to prevent toys from becoming obsolete.

PREVIOUS, Nov. 11, 2025: Pixar on Tuesday dropped the first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, almost 30 years to the day that the original animated pic hit theaters in November 1995.

The new pic is set to hit theaters on June 19, 2026.

Today’s trailer reveals a new nemesis for the gang: Lilypad, an electronic game tablet voiced by Past Lives star Greta Lee. She gets unboxed much to the horror of original Toy Story toys (formerly Andy’s toys, now Bonnie’s) Woody (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack) and Forky (Tony Hale), with other characters like Mr Potato Head and Mrs Potato Head, Rex, Slinky Dog, Bullseye and even the plushy alien doll suitably freaking out — all to the sounds of INXS’ “Never Tear Us Apart.”

Conan O’Brien has also join the voice cast as the toilet training tech toy Smarty Pants.

The plot remains mostly under wraps, but Allen, while promoting his comedy tour earlier this year, gave a general idea of what the latest installment would be about. “I can tell you that it’s a lot about Jessie,” he said in an interview with WIVB. “Tom [Hanks] and I do — Woody and I — do realign. And there’s an unbelievable opening scene with Buzz Lightyears. I can give you that, but I can’t give you much more.”

Andrew Stanton is director and Kenna Harris is co-director of the pic, which is produced by Lindsey Collins.

Said Stanton, who wrote the screenplay for the original pic and won Animated Feature Oscars for directing Finding Nemo and Wall-E, and Harris did tease more in today’s press release announcing the trailer.

“It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,” they said. “Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.”
