Iran’s New Supreme Leader Hasn’t Been Seen Since The War Began. A Report Claims He Could Die At Any Moment

Mojtaba Khamenei is in extremely critical condition and could die imminently, according to a new report.

Citing sources close to the Pezeshkian administration, Iran Wire reported that the assessments is being discussed within the highest levels of the Tehran regime.

“We would not be surprised if we heard news of his martyrdom soon,” said one of the cited sources.

Khamenei has not been seen or heard since the February 28 attack that began the war with the U.S. and Iran. He was in the same compound as his father, deceased Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and other top leaders who were killed in the attack. His only participation in the public conversation are letters attributed to him. He did not attend the funeral of his father either.

The New York Times detailed in April that Mojtaba Khamenei has not been seen or heard in public because he “does not want to appear vulnerable or sound weak.”

The outlet went on to say that Khamenei’s face and lips have been burned severely, making it difficult for him to speak. He has had three surgeries on his leg and was waiting for a prosthetic. He also needed plastic surgery for his face.

Khamenei has been largely isolated, with officials fearing visiting him over the chances that they will be targeted and killed by Israel. He receives handwritten measures delivered via a human chain and delivers them back in the same way.

Another article detailed that U.S. intelligence agencies believe Khamenei is significantly more willing to pursue nuclear weapons.

The NYT said he has shown greater openness to developing advanced nuclear weapons, even though he has never publicly endorsed such a program.
