Art Is Still Worth It: Why the Art Ascend Grand Finale Matters Now
On the evening of June 11, the elevator doors will open on the fifth floor of 347 West 36th Street in Manhattan, and something quietly radical will be on display: art made by human hands, judged by human eyes, and celebrated by a community that believes the act of creation still matters.
The Art Ascend Annual Grand Finale Exhibition is not a protest against the digital age. It is something more confident than that—a gathering of artists and admirers who need no argument to justify their presence. The work speaks for itself.

An international stage for living artists
Art Ascend is an international fine art platform with a single, clear purpose: to support living artists working across traditional and contemporary disciplines. Through exhibitions, juried competitions, and global participation, the organization builds bridges—between artists and collectors, between local talent and international audiences, between the work being made today and the broader public that deserves to see it.
The Grand Finale is the culmination of that year-round mission. Selected artists—evaluated and recognized by a distinguished Master Jury—will exhibit work that represents the full breadth of what contemporary fine art looks like in 2026. Painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media: the categories are wide, but the standard is uncompromising.
Ten categories. One extraordinary evening.
This year’s Grand Finale spans ten distinct disciplines, reflecting the full breadth of what contemporary fine art looks like in 2026. From the precision of drawing to the soul of sacred realism, each category brings its own language—and its own reason to look carefully.

“The act of making something by hand—placing pigment on canvas, shaping material with intention—is not obsolete. It is, if anything, more meaningful than ever.”
Selected works — Grand Finale 2026
The works selected for this year’s Grand Finale represent the highest standard of technical achievement and artistic intention across Art Ascend’s ten competitive categories. Each piece was evaluated by the Master Jury on the basis of craftsmanship, originality, and the artist’s command of their chosen medium. What follows is a glimpse into the range and depth of what will be on view June 11 in Manhattan.

Why it still matters
There is a temptation, in cultural conversations dominated by technology, to frame human-made art as nostalgic—a lovely but fading practice. Art Ascend rejects that framing entirely. The organization’s exhibitions are not retrospectives. They are live demonstrations of what artists are creating right now, and why collectors, critics, and curious viewers should pay attention.
Supporting living artists is not charity. It is investment—in culture, in craft, in the particular kind of meaning that only comes from a work made by a specific person, at a specific moment, in a specific state of mind. No algorithm replicates that provenance. No prompt produces that biography.
The June 11 exhibition invites attendees to experience that difference in person. Three and a half hours in a room on the fifth floor of a midtown building, surrounded by work that someone cared enough to make and someone else cared enough to select. That is, by any reasonable measure, time well spent.
