Why Kate Hudson Turned Down Kirsten Dunst’s Role in Spider-Man
Kate Hudson isn’t marveling about the roles she’s said no to.
Indeed, the Song Sung Blue star confirmed that she passed on the chance to play Mary Jane Watson in Spider-Man.
“Yes, I did,” Kate told Andy Cohen in response to a fan question on the Dec. 22 episode of Watch What Happens Live. “Now that I look back, it’s one of those things where I look back like, ‘That would have been nice to be in a Spider-Man movie.’”
While Tobey Maguire and Kirsten Dunst handled the web slinging and upside down kissing in the franchise from 2002 to 2007, Kate shared the screen with another leading man.
“But at the same time, I did a movie called Four Feathers,” the 46-year-old revealed. “I got to meet Heath Ledger who became a very good friend and I got an experience that I would have never had.”
“So, a part of me is like life happens exactly the way it’s supposed to,” she added. “And so, I’m grateful for it. “But I do look at it and I’m like, ‘Aw, it would have been fun to be her.’”
