Why George Clooney Won’t Be “Kissing a Girl Anymore” Onscreen
George Clooney is saying goodnight and goodbye to kissing onscreen.
The Jay Kelly actor revealed that he’s taking a page from another Hollywood icon as he enters the next phase of his career after having a frank conversation with his wife Amal Clooney.
“I’ve been trying to go the route Paul Newman did: ‘OK, well, I’m not kissing a girl any more,'” George told The Daily Mail in an interview published Dec. 12, referencing the late Oscar winner’s vow not to film romantic scenes with anyone other than his wife Joanne Woodward. “When I turned 60, I had a conversation with my wife. I said, ‘Look, I can still play basketball with the boys. I play with 25-year-old guys.'”
“I can still hang, I’m in shape,” the 64-year-old went on. “But in 25 years, I’m 85 years old. It doesn’t matter how many granola bars you eat, that’s a real number.”
And, while he may be hanging his hat up when it comes to kissing other women onscreen, he has absolutely no plans to retire from acting altogether.
