What really matters in the Knicks NBA Cup banner debate

LAS VEGAS — Let’s start my 10 NBA Cup/Las Vegas observations with the banner debate.

It feels like the only one that matters now because everybody likes to discuss something relatable, and this conundrum is easy to understand: Is the championship worth memorializing in Madison Square Garden, or is it more akin to a participation trophy?

And separate but related: Would hanging a banner somehow distract or reduce the team’s motivation toward chasing a bigger goal?

And lastly: Are the standards of the MSG rafters above the NBA Cup?
