‘The White Lotus’: Chris Messina Circling New Role In Next Season Of HBO Series – The Dish
EXCLUSIVE: The guest list continues to grow for the next season of HBO’s The White Lotus as sources tell Deadline that Chris Messina is in early talks to join the Emmy-winning drama series. While a deal hasn’t closed, insiders say Messina does have an offer.
HBO had no comment.
If a deal does make, Messina would join previously announced new members Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka. Deadline was also first to report Helena Bonham Carter is in negotiations to join the cast, though the network has not confirmed her involvement.
Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO and HBO Max Content, confirmed in November that casting had begun for the next installment of the HBO murder mystery anthology series created by Mike White. Per usual, plot details for the new season have not been revealed.
While unconfirmed, sources say the new season will shoot in Saint-Tropez as one of the several properties for this season. Deadline first reported in September that Season 4 will be set in France. Production could start this spring.
While its unknown who Messina will be playing, sources say it would be one of the new major roles opposite Carter that had others chasing the part. Casting for The White Lotus always aims high and tends to attract a mix of top and rising talent. Walton Goggins, Michelle Monaghan, Carrie Coon, Sam Rockwell, Natasha Rothwell, Jason Isaacs, Parker Posey, Aimee Lou Wood, Sam Nivola and Patrick Schwarzenegger were among the stars of the most-recent, Thailand-set third season, which earned a whopping eight acting Emmy nominations.

Best known for his roles in projects like Air and The Newsroom, Messina most recently wrapped filming on the World War II film Pressure for Working Title and Studiocanal opposite Andrew Scott and Brendan Frasier. He was also recently seen in Clint Eastwood’s Juror #2.
He is repped by CAA and Entertainment 360.
