‘The Good Doctor’s Antonia Thomas Joins Amy Poehler Peacock Comedy ‘Dig’
Antonia Thomas (The Good Doctor, Misfits) has been cast as a series regular in the new Peacock comedy series Dig, based on Kate Myers’ bestselling book “Excavation.”
She joins the previously announced cast of Amy Poehler, Hugh Laurie, Geraldine Viswanathan, and Fina Strazza. Poehler also writes and executive produces alongside Mike Schur.
Dig is centered on four women — played by Poehler, Viswanathan, Strazza and Thomas — working at an archeological dig in Greece who are at wildly different crossroads in their lives. When the team uncovers a long-buried secret with the potential to rewrite history, they find themselves at the center of a high-stakes international conspiracy.
Thomas will play Clare, who oversees the dig site’s lab/museum as head preservationist. She’s most comfortable in a world of privilege and is slightly off-foot in the casual cargo-clad world of the dig.
Schur and Poehler co-wrote the pilot script, with J. Philbin (Only Murders in the Building) also serving as a writer on the series. The trio executive produces alongside Morgan Sackett, director Dean Holland, as well as Dave Becky and David Miner for 3 Arts, Sharon Jackson for Ocean Avenue, and Kate Arend and Jordan Grief for Poehler’s Paper Kite. Myers is co-executive producer.
Thomas is best known for playing Dr. Claire Browne in ABC’s The Good Doctor across four seasons. Her breakout role was in the UK’s hit dramedy Misfits, starring as Alisha Daniels in the hit show’s first three seasons. Most recently, she co-starred in the UK’s Channel 4 crime drama Suspect, in the role of Maia. Additional small screen credits include the BAFTA-nominated series Small Axe, Netflix’s Lovesick, The Bagman, and Teletubbies. Thomas will next co-star in Two Weeks in August, a BBC original eight-part drama series. She is repped by Gersh, B-Side, Principal Entertainment LA and Goodman Genow Schenkman.
