Taylor Swift Breaks Down In Tears In Eras Tour Docuseries After Meeting Survivors Of Devastating Southport Attack
Taylor Swift can be seen breaking down in tears backstage in her Disney+ series after she met survivors and the families of those killed in the devastating Southport stabbing attack.
Backstage footage from the tour, which comes out today, shows the superstar struggling to keep it together as she speaks about meeting those who were there. She subsequently had to perform for three and a half hours at London’s Wembley Stadium.
Three girls were killed and numerous people injured at a Swift-themed dance class in Southport in the north of England last year. The man responsible was recently imprisoned for life. The devastating tragedy generated headlines around the world. Swift has previously said she was “completely at a loss for how to ever convey my sympathies to these families.”
Some of those families went to one of her concerts and Swift discusses this in the Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show, which aired to press earlier this week. The docuseries debuts its first two episodes today, with the next two coming in a week and the final two on Boxing Day.
The Wembley show being profiled had another added stress in that it was Swift’s return to performing after three concerts were cancelled due to a terrorist threat.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour: The Final Show will take viewers back to what the musician has previously called “a bonding experience for like 70,000 people all at once.” Many still have the friendship bracelets to prove it. The full-concert film was captured in Vancouver, B.C. at the last show of Swift’s Eras tour. It will feature a new acoustic set as well as the added section in the lineup devoted to Swift’s newest album at the time, The Tortured Poets Department.
