Syndicado Films Sales Rebrands As Verità Films, To Focus Exclusively On Documentary Content


EXCLUSIVE: Syndicado Film Sales is getting a new name, a new head of sales and acquisitions and – importantly – a new mission.

The Toronto-based company is rebranding as Verità Films, “marking a renewed focus on representing documentaries for global sales and distribution.” While Sydicado Film Sales represented fiction and nonfiction content, a release makes clear the rebranded Verità will be a documentary-only sales outfit.

“Documentaries have always been the cornerstone of our company,” noted Greg Rubidge, Verità Films’ Founder. “Rebranding as Verità Films allows us to sharpen our identity around truth-driven storytelling and provide filmmakers with a dedicated home for their work.”

In addition to the rebrand announcement, the company shared that Jasmina Vignjević has been promoted to Head of Sales & Acquisitions for Verità Films, “overseeing sales and acquisitions, working directly with filmmakers and key decisions industry stakeholders.” Vignjević previously oversaw the company’s festival strategy, releases and key festival relations, working with the firm since its founding.

Vignjević has been in Amsterdam attending IDFA – the world’s largest documentary film festival – where she has represented a slate of 10 documentaries for Verità. “Key titles include Denis Côté’s Paul, a stunning exploration of a man struggling with severe social anxiety who socializes mainly online, supporting himself with a job as a home and work cleaner for dominatrices.”

Also on Verità’s IDFA slate is the award-winning A Want in Her, directed by Myrid Carten, who appeared on Deadline’s Doc Talk podcast last year to discuss the world premiere of the film at IDFA. Verità describes the mother-daughter themed documentary as “an immersive, first- person account of the cost of love and the difficulties of escaping it.”

Verità Films continues to operate from Europe and Canada, “supported by parent company Syndicado’s more than 15-year history of distribution, which started in VOD and grew into home video, theatrical, broadcast and educational rights covering multiple territories.”

Syndicado works with industry leading streaming platforms including Apple TV, Google/YouTube, Paramount+, Disney, Roku, Tubi, Pluto, Peacock among others.
