State of Texas: Youth camp leaders say new safety law puts them as risk of closure




After the deadly July floods, state lawmakers approved legislation that included a requirement for youth camps to have fiber internet and a backup internet connection. The regulation is meant to ensure reliable communications during a crisis. But leaders of several Texas camps now say that requirement is impossible to meet before next summer, and could force several dozen camps to close.
