Spike Fearn To Co-Star With Renée Zellweger In David Yates’ Psychological Thriller ‘Phantom Son’
EXCLUSIVE: In-demand Alien: Romulus and Ella McCay star Spike Fearn is joining two-time Oscar winner Renée Zellweger in David Yates’ psychological thriller Phantom Son.
The film follows Ronnie (Fearn), a young runaway struggling to survive on the street, who is taken in by Audrey (Zellweger), a lonely woman whose own son was kidnapped twenty years prior. As Audrey becomes convinced that Ronnie actually is her long-lost son, a twisted game of cat and mouse develops, blurring the line between deception and delusion.
Additional casting is underway for a March 2026 start. AGC International and CAA Media Finance co-rep worldwide rights.
The film was originated and developed by Zellweger and Carmella Casinelli under their Big Picture Co. banner. They attached Harry Potter director Yates to direct and continued development with him before ultimately partnering with AGC Studios to finance and co-produce. The original screenplay comes from Ian Scott McCullough.
Fast-rising Brit Fearn was a breakout in Fede Alvarez’s Alien: Romulus, ITV/HBO Max series Tell Me Everything and also supported in Cannes hit Aftersun. He is hitting cinemas this week in dramedy Ella McCay with Emma Mackey, Jamie Lee Curtis and Woody Harrelson, and he recently wrapped shooting opposite Cate Blanchett in Alice Birch’s Sweetsick and 4 Kids Walk Into A Bank with Liam Neeson, Talia Ryder, and Jack Dylan Grazer. He will next be seen starring as the co-lead opposite Angourie Rice in the Working Title rom-com Finding Emily.
Fearn is repped by UTA, B-Side Management, and Jackoway Austen. Anant Tamirisa negotiated the deal on behalf of AGC Studios.
