Singapore: 2 People Injured After Tow Truck Overturns on BKE Near Mandai Exit

Two people were injured after a tow truck overturned along the Bukit Timah Expressway (BKE) on Friday evening, April 3, briefly disrupting traffic in the area.

The police and the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said on Sunday, April 5, that they were informed about the accident on April 3 at about 6 pm. The incident occurred along the BKE towards Woodlands Checkpoint, just before the Mandai Road exit.

Footage of the aftermath, which surfaced on social media a day later, showed the tow truck lying on its side on a grassy patch by the roadside. The vehicle, which had been towing a heavy load, appeared to have veered off the expressway. Skid marks visible on the road suggested the driver may have lost control before the vehicle overturned.

SCDF personnel assessed two individuals at the scene for injuries. Both were found to have sustained minor injuries but declined to be taken to hospital.

Preliminary findings indicate that the tow truck is believed to have self-skidded along the stretch of road before slipping off towards the Mandai Road exit.

The investigations into the incident are still ongoing.
