See Catherine O’Hara’s Last Outing Before Her Death at 71

Catherine O’Hara spent her final months out of the public eye.

The award-winning actress, known for her roles in Beetlejuice, Schitt’s Creek and Home Alone, has died, E! News can confirm. She was 71. Her death comes weeks after she was absent from the 2026 Golden Globes, where she had been nominated for her work in The Studio.

In fact, O’Hara’s final public appearance came more than four months prior at Apple TV’s after-party following the 2025 Emmy Awards Sept. 14, where she stepped out to celebrate the show’s record-breaking 13 wins.

The actress attended the party with her husband Bo Welch, with whom she shared sons Matthew and Luke. She was all smiles in a floor-length black peplum gown with a high neckline and carried a matching clutch with her as she posed solo and with Welch on the red carpet.

The couple had also attended the Emmys ceremony earlier that day, where O’Hara was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series for her performance as Patty Leigh on The Studio, her 13th career Primetime Emmy nomination. She’d previously won for Schitt’s Creek and SCTV Network.
