Rob Reiner, wife’s death at LA home investigated as homicide: Live updates
Acclaimed director Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found dead Sunday at their Los Angeles home, according to the Associated Press (AP) and a family statement cited by multiple media outlets.
Detectives with the Robbery Homicide Division are investigating an “apparent homicide” at Reiner’s home, Capt. Mike Bland with the Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) told AP.
Investigators believe the pair suffered stab wounds and a family member is being questioned by investigators, an unnamed law enforcement official briefed on the investigation told the news agency.
“It is with profound sorrow that we announce the tragic passing of Michele and Rob Reiner. We are heartbroken by this sudden loss, and we ask for privacy during this unbelievably difficult time,” a family spokesperson said in a statement, cited by media.

Tributes have poured in for the director and his wife following news of their deaths. Former President Barack Obama, Former Vice President Kamala Harris and California Governor Gavin Newsom were among those to release statements. Harris said his work “has impacted generations of Americans” and Newsom remembered him as a “big hearted genius”.
Obama said: “Rob’s achievements in film and television gave us some of our most cherished stories on screen. But beneath all of the stories he produced was a deep belief in the goodness of people – and a lifelong commitment to putting that belief into action.
