President Trump’s Chief of Staff Diagnosed With Breast Cancer

President Trump’s Chief of Staff has been diagnosed with cancer and is immediately beginning treatment.

Trump shared that Susie Wiles, described as one of his closest advisors, has early-stage breast cancer. Wiles, 68, will continue in her capacity while undergoing treatment.

“Susie Wiles is an incredible Chief of Staff, a great person, and one of the strongest people I know,” Trump wrote in a social media post. ” She has a fantastic medical team, and her prognosis is excellent! During the treatment period, she will be spending virtually full time at the White House, which makes me, as President, very happy!”

Axios reported that Wiles takes part in most of the major decisions Trump makes and has been responsible for assembling his staff.

“Nearly one in eight women in the United States will face this diagnosis. Every day, these women continue to raise their families, go to work, and serve their communities with strength and determination. I now join their ranks,” Wiles said, according to Axios. “I am also deeply thankful for the support and encouragement of President Trump as I undergo treatment and continue serving in my role as White House Chief of Staff.”

The Associated Press noted that Wiles is the first woman to become White House chief of staff. The wire service said that before coming to Washington D.C., Wiles as a lobbyist and political operative in Florida. In 2016, she headed up Trump’s campaign efforts in Florida.
