Peter Krause’s Next Major Role Revealed After Shocking 9-1-1 Exit

‘9-1-1’s Angela Bassett Addresses Peter Krause’s Possible Return After His Character’s Death

Peter Krause is heading back to the line of duty, but in new protective gear.

Nine months after the veteran actor’s 9-1-1 character, LAFD fire captain Bobby Nash, was unexpectedly killed off in the show’s eighth season, he’s found his next leading role.

According to Deadline, Peter, 60, has joined the cast of NBC’s Protection, a crime drama about a law enforcement family that “becomes the target of a mysterious assassin.” He’ll star as Mike Thornhill, a former Secret Service agent who’s a member of the targeted family, in the show’s pilot.

Details about Peter’s upcoming character, and the rest of the cast, haven’t been revealed so far. However, it’s confirmed the series is being led by an impressive team of creatives: Mean GirlsJosh Safran will serve as the show’s writer and executive producer, while Jenna Bush Hager will also tag along as a producer.

Protection will be the Today host’s first project under her deal with Universal Studios, which will see her adapting books from her Read with Jenna club—which she launched in 2019—into limited TV shows.
