OneRepublic’s Ryan Tedder Teams With Concord Originals On An Original Film Musical Drawing On His Catalog

EXCLUSIVE: Multi Grammy-winning singer, songwriter and record producer Ryan Tedder is partnering with Concord Originals, the film and TV division of music and theatre powerhouse Concord, on an original film featuring pop hits from his catalog.

The working title for the project is Bleeding Love. It’ll incorporate songs made famous by a variety of recording artists including Tedder’s OneRepublic, all of which are written or co-written by Tedder, including “Bleeding Love,” Apologize,” “Rumor Has It,” “Maps,” “Counting Stars,” and “I Lived.” Notably, Concord Music Publishing owns over 170 Tedder compositions. Bleeding Love (wt) will also feature new, original music from the pop tastemaker.

Pic is written by screenwriter and playwright Chelsea Marcantel (Airness, The Monster), based on her original idea incorporating new renditions of Tedder’s songs, with development underway.

The project will be produced by Tedder and Ben Orell for More Coffee Please, and Sophia Dilley (HBO’s Stax: Soulsville, USA) and Charles Hopkins (Paris Barclay’s Billy Preston: That’s the Way God Planned It) for Concord Originals. Exec producers include Concord Originals’ Bob Valentine and Quíle Gomez, who brought the project in to the company. Concord is financing development.

“I’m incredibly excited for fans of these songs to experience them in a new way,” Tedder told Deadline. “We are planning some really amazing things for this film which will have something for everyone to enjoy.”

Sophia Dilley, EVP Concord Originals, added: “What a thrill to work with the incredibly talented Ryan Tedder and his music that has made an indelible mark on popular culture. Creating an original movie musical with Tedder’s iconic songs and the writing talent of Chelsea Marcantel perfectly embodies the goal of Concord Originals: marrying music and story for screen.”

Tedder is a three-time Grammy-winning music producer and the co-founder and frontman of the Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum selling band OneRepublic. He earned the Grammy Award for Album of the Year for producing Adele’s 21 and 25, as well as Taylor Swift’s 1989, and has also worked with stars like Tate McRae, Beyoncé, Ed Sheeran, U2, Miley Cyrus and Paul McCartney, among many others. As a songwriter, Tedder has received the National Music Publishers’ Association’s Songwriter Icon Award, and has earned three RIAA certified Diamond Awards, in addition to contributing to over $500M in record sales. Recently, he co-wrote and co-produced two tracks for Apple’s F1 soundtrack: McRae’s “Just Keep Watching,” as well as “Lose My Mind” (Doja Cat feat. Don Toliver).

Bleeding Love scribe Marcantel was a member of the Walt Disney Animation Story Trust from 2022-2023, collaborating on such films as Strange World (Creative Leadership Credit) and Wish (Creative Leadership Credit), in addition to films and series that have not yet been released. She is a 2016 Lila Acheson Wallace American Playwrights Fellowship at The Juilliard School. Her plays, which have been produced through the U.S. and Canada, include Airness, Everything is Wonderful, Tiny Houses, Ladyish, and Devour. Current commissions include: Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, Geffen Playhouse, Cleveland Play House, Signature Theatre DC, as well as musical projects with Broadway producers Jeffrey Richards and Stephanie Kramer.

Concord Originals recently acquired RKO, the legendary film studio behind such classic film properties as King Kong, Citizen Kane, The Best Years of Our Lives, It’s a Wonderful Life, Suspicion and The Woman in the Window. Current and upcoming projects include the Emmy-nominated and Peabody Award-winning Stax: Soulsville U.S.A., a multi-part docuseries about the legendary Stax Records for HBO from executive producer Ezra Edelman (O.J.: Made in America) and director Jamila Wignot (Ailey); Kidz Bop Live: The Concert Movie for Fathom Entertainment; Shari & Lamb Chop directed by Lisa D’Apolito (Love, Gilda), which Kino Lorber released theatrically in July 2025; Barclay’s doc Billy Preston: That’s The Way God Planned It about the celebrated musician Billy Preston; and Ilya Chaiken’s music doc Pretty Ugly: The Story of the Lunachicks from Academy Award-nominated executive producers Julie Cohen and Betsy West (RBG) for Giant Pictures.
