Melania Trump Appears With Humanoid Robot at White House Event on Children’s Education

A humanoid robot named Figure 03 took center stage at First Lady Melania Trump‘s White House roundtable on Wednesday, when it accompanied her into the East Room for the second day of the “Fostering the Future Together” Global Coalition Summit, an initiative focused on expanding children’s access to education and technology.

The two-day summit itself, larger than a typical East Room event, brought together leaders from 45 nations and representatives from 28 technology organizations, according to the White House.

The robot, developed by California-based Figure AI, is the company’s third-generation humanoid system and is marketed as a general-purpose machine designed for everyday environments. At the White House event, Figure 03 welcomed guests and delivered brief remarks.

“It’s fair to state you’re my first American-made humanoid guest in the White House,” Melania Trump said, in a line that quickly drew attention as footage from the event circulated online and on television. The robot’s role was largely ceremonial, but its presence added a visual demonstration to a summit that was centered on policy, digital literacy, and international cooperation.

On Tuesday, the First Lady addressed delegates from more than 40 countries in Washington, calling for closer collaboration to improve access to education and technology for children worldwide. Her statement began, “As people we dream. As leaders we progress. As nations we will build. Beginning today, let’s accelerate our new global alliance—this bond—to positively impact the progress of our children.”

Discussions included artificial intelligence in education, digital literacy, online safety, and public-private partnerships, with tech companies including Microsoft, Google, and OpenAI participating in sessions tied to the gathering.

According to the White House, the “Fostering the Future Together” coalition was launched to help children “flourish in the digital era,” and the summit marked its first major in-person global gathering since the initiative was announced during the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025. The White House said the second day at the White House was intended to showcase country-level initiatives and deepen international coordination around children’s well-being in a technology-driven world.

Figure AI says the robot is built for “the home, and the world at scale,” and powered by the company’s Helix system, which is designed to help the humanoid perceive, reason and act in real-world settings.

The robot’s White House appearance also fit into a broader pattern of the first lady’s public engagement on AI and education. In September 2025, she hosted a White House Task Force on Artificial Intelligence Education, where she argued that AI can help equip students with skills for a rapidly changing future.
