Kevin Gundersen, CEO of Gunderson Enterprises, on Disrupting the Supplement Industry
In the modern health and wellness marketplace, consumer trust is a precarious commodity. For Las Vegas native Kevin Gundersen, founder and CEO of supplements brand Inno Supps, the path to industry leadership has not been defined by following established trends, but by a steadfast refusal to compromise on product integrity.
Since the brand’s inception in 2019, Gundersen has focused the business on a singular goal: bringing to the market natural, high performance supplements. This simplicity belies the strategic complexity of a business model that prioritizes long-term brand health and ingredient purity over short-term profit margins.
“I created a line of products that I personally wanted to take,” shares Gunderson. “There were and still are very few supplement companies that don’t use artificial sweeteners. I wanted Inno Supps and LIV Body to be the go-to product line that consumers could trust to have their health and results in mind.”
Gunderson continues, “Helping others look and feel their best has been my passion since day one. I get a massive amount of fulfillment from providing supplements that have helped change the lives of millions of customers.”
“All of my companies have been started with the intention of providing the highest quality, most effective and healthiest supplements on the market. My primary motivation and focus has always been on quality over margins.”
Gundersen’s principled approach was forged through a series of early entrepreneurial lessons. His first venture, initiated while he was still a student at USC, was a liver-support and recovery product called “Frat Pack”. The product ultimately flopped, but the experience would serve the young entrepreneur as a critical lesson in market validation.
Though the concept was sound on paper, the real-world demand failed to materialize as expected. This early misstep taught Gundersen that sustainable growth requires solving verified consumer pain points rather than chasing hypothetical markets. He realized that a founder’s passion must be subservient to the consumer’s actual needs. His developing business principles and leadership philosophy would soon be put to the test.
A few years later, Gundersen had a thriving supplements company, which he ran and partially owned. However, as the brand scaled, he reached an impasse with his stakeholders. The industry standard for increasing profit margins usually involves “optimizing” formulas and products. Too often, however, this is merely corporate speak for swapping out premium ingredients for cheaper, synthetic alternatives.
Faced with internal pressure to incorporate cost-effective artificial sweeteners like Sucralose to widen margins, Gundersen had reached his breaking point. Sticking to his principles and core belief in the importance of product quality, he chose to exit the company he built rather than compromise his standards. This moment of friction provided the structural and philosophical blueprint for Inno Supps, ensuring that no ingredient would be sacrificed for a small gain on a quarterly spreadsheet.
Under Gundersen’s leadership, Inno Supps has institutionalized a “clean-label” mandate that remains rare in a crowded, often under-regulated marketplace. The company’s entire portfolio of products is defined by the total exclusion of artificial sweeteners, fillers, and harmful additives. To maintain these rigorous standards, Gundersen oversees a sophisticated quality-control engine. This includes mandatory third-party testing for every batch and manufacturing exclusively in Good Manufacturing Practices, or GMP-certified facilities.
By rejecting the industry standard of using “dirty” fillers to boost bottom-line efficiency, Gundersen has built a defensive moat of consumer trust that legacy brands, beholden to traditional margin pressures, struggle to replicate.
As for a business model that eschews short-term profits, Gundersen has been proven right. “My entire goal is health and wellness. My focus is on getting the best possible products into the hands of our customers. If we do that well, the business side will handle itself.”
For Gundersen, Inno Supps represents the culmination of a decade of iteration. It is living proof of concept that a multi-million-dollar enterprise can thrive on the uncompromising principles of its founder. He has proven that in an industry often driven by shortcuts, the most sustainable competitive advantage is a refusal to take them. By keeping the business aligned with his philosophies, Gundersen protects the integrity of the Inno Supps brand and cultivates a fiercely loyal customer base.
