Kate Middleton shares emotional embrace with Jessie J after bonding over cancer journeys
Kate Middleton and Jessie J shared a warm embrace after bonding over their battles with cancer.
The Princess of Wales was photographed hugging the pop star at the Royal Variety Performance at the Royal Albert Hall in London Wednesday night.
The “Price Tag” singer was seen chatting with the royal before both leaned in to sweetly wrap their arms around each other.
Jessie J, 37, later explained that the touching interaction happened after they discussed their health struggles.
“Mom to mom, who has just recently gone through cancer, I just wanted to give her a hug,” Jessie explained, according to The Independent.
The “Bang Bang” artist further divulged that she and the princess agreed that it was all the more challenging to conquer cancer under a spotlight.
“We acknowledged that it’s something that is not easy to go through, especially in the public eye,” she said.
Over the summer, Jessie J revealed that she was diagnosed with early breast cancer.
“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early,’” she said in a video shared via Instagram in June.
Jessie said that she would be undergoing breast surgery, joking, “It’s a very dramatic way to get a boob job.”
“I will come back with massive tits and more music,” she cracked, before noting that she will “get to keep [her] nipples.” (She underwent at least two brutal procedures for her cancer this year.)
Jessie also admitted that she was having trouble processing her diagnoses and needed “a hug.”
Fortunately, Middleton was present Wednesday night to deliver on that.
The outing was special for the Royal Foundation founder, as it marked her first red carpet appearance in two years.
Middleton, 43, had been staying out of the spotlight while undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with cancer in March 2024.
Six months later, Middleton revealed that she had completed chemotherapy and in June, the mom of three confirmed that she was in remission.
Middleton walked the red carpet in a form-fitting velvet green gown while accompanied by her husband, Prince William, who looked dashing in a velvet tuxedo.
