Ilhan Omar Calls For Donald Trump’s Removal Over Threat To Iran: ‘Unhinged Lunatic’
Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar called for the impeachment and removal of President Donald Trump over his threats to blow up power plants and bridges in Iran.
“This is not ok. Invoke the 25th amendment. Impeach. Remove. This unhinged lunatic must be removed from office,” Omar said in a social media publication.
It is the latest instance where the two politicians have traded barbs publicly. In February, Omar slammed Trump over his claim that the Department of Justice will investigate an increase in her net worth over the past years.
“They told me to stop believing what that man says. I don’t know why you keep asking me about what that man says. Nothing he says is true. It has never been,” she said in Congress.
“Just because you’re president doesn’t mean you’re a truthful person. That man is a liar and delusional. Obviously needs to get some help. His obsession with me is way too much,” she added.
Trump made the claim in late January, saying in a social media publication that Omar “left Somalia with NOTHING, and is now reportedly worth more than 44 Million Dollars.”
A report from Yahoo Finance noted that other publications claimed that Omar’s net worth had surged to as much as $30 million after disclosing a negative net worth when elected to Congress in 2019.
The 2025 document, the report added, listed two large assets tied to her husband, Tim Mynett, which could have amounted to a figure between $6 million and $30 million.
Omar has reacted to the claims, responding to a social media publication and saying that “the value range listed for the assets reflects the full cost assessment of the businesses, in which my husband is one of several partners and does not reflect his individual share.” “Keep wishing millions into existence so I could pay off these student loans,” she added.
As for the Iran threats, they could be closer to materializing as the deadline Trump has given Tehran to reach a deal nears.
Trump renewed his threats on Monday afternoon, telling press “we have a plan, because of the power of our military, where every bridge in Iran will be decimated by 12 o’clock tomorrow night, where every power plant in Iran will be out of business — burning, exploding, and never to be used again.”
“It will take them 100 years to rebuild right now, if we left today, it would take them 20 years to rebuild their country, and it would never be as good as it was. And the only way they’re going to be able to rebuild their country is to utilize the genius of the United States of America,” Trump added.
So far Iran has rejected all proposals. On Monday it presented one of its own with 10 clauses, including an end to conflicts in the region, protocol for safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz, the lifting of sanctions and reconstruction. Trump rejected that proposal as well.
