How to Style Jeans for a Dinner Date, According to Bella and Gigi Hadid

They really Hadid that. Model sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid stepped out for dinner—separately—in Los Angeles, both pairing jeans with a designer handbag to demonstrate two easy ways to dress up denim for a night out with friends or a romantic date.

Bella Hadid opted for dark-wash boot-cut jeans, a beige top, a sleek ponytail, and petite sunglasses for her friend dinner, accessorizing with a Coach Tabby Shoulder bag 26, a vintage leather jacket, and vintage Jimmy Choo heels. The look is very off-duty model or other fashion insider; you can imagine a stylish Vogue assistant wearing this very ’90s look to run errands in the garment district.

Gigi Hadid, meanwhile, leaned more casual and more West Coast, with baggy light-wash jeans; the Grizzly brushed-cashmere jacket from her own brand, Guest in Residence; a simple bun, and a patchwork leather Miu Miu tote. This was her ’fit the night of the Golden Globes, which she and boyfriend Bradley Cooper skipped to have dinner with another couple at Giorgio Baldi in Santa Monica.

These two looks are very much in keeping with the Hadid sisters’ vibes of late. When Gigi goes out with Bradley, it’s in barrel-cut jeans and a jacket. Always. Light-wash denim is her hue of choice. She’s never averse to a patchwork moment.

Bella, on the other hand, goes for bootcut, every time. Her jeans may be blue, black, or even white, but she’s always looking professional and polished. We’ll probably be seeing more of her over the next week as she promotes the upcoming Ryan Murphy FX series The Beauty, in which she plays…a model! Her character, Ruby, is “an international supermodel at the height of her fame and success,” according to FX. Bella is billed as a guest star, and the trailers heavily hint that Ruby is on the brink of destruction, so don’t be surprised if she, uh, doesn’t stick around long. Still, we’ll take all the Hadid we can get!
