GOP Senator Warns Trump Against Bombing Iranian Civilian Infrastructure, Saying He ‘Prays’ It Is a ‘Bluster’

Republican Senator Ron Johnson warned President Donald Trump against bombing civilian infrastructure in Iran as his deadline to reach a deal continues to near.

Speaking on the John Solomon Reports podcast, Johnson said he “hopes and prays” the threats are being used as “bluster.”

“We are not at war with the Iranian people. We are trying to liberate them,” Johnson added, saying that the U.S. is at war with the country’s “elites”, the revolutionary guard, “the other security forces and the people who are brutally ruling that country,” adding it won’t be an “easy task.”

However, Trump appears to be pressing forward with his threats. He said on Tuesday that a “whole civilization will die tonight” if the Iranian regime fails to reach a deal by the deadline he has given and is set to expire on Tuesday.

“I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death, will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump added in a publication on his social media platform, Truth Social.

So far, all negotiations seem to be unfruitful. On Monday he said that Iran’s counterproposal to end the war is “not good enough,” even though he highlighted that the fact that Tehran sent a response is a “very significant step.”

Iran also said it will deprive the U.S. and its allies of oil and gas “for years to come” if Washington crosses its “red lines.”

In a statement published on state television, the entity added that if the “American terrorist army crosses the red lines, our response will go beyond the region.”

“America’s regional partners should also know that until today, we have exercised great restraint for the sake of good neighborliness and have had some reservations in choosing targets for retaliation, but all these reservations have since been removed,” the paramilitary guard added.

Tehran has also stopped negotiation efforts with the U.S. on Tuesday, according to The New York Times. The country informed Pakistan that it will no longer engage in cease-fire talks.
