‘F1’s Joseph Kosinski And Jerry Bruckheimer To Receive Advanced Imaging Society’s 2026 Harold Lloyd Award

EXCLUSIVE: The director and producer who took Top Gun: Maverick all the way through the 2022 awards season to a Best Picture Oscar nomination are now on the path again, this time trading fast fighter jets for fast racing cars with their latest collaboration, F1.

The Advanced Imaging Society (AIS) announced today that director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer will be honored with the 2026 Harold Lloyd Award at the 16^th annual Lumiere Awards luncheon, which takes place Monday, February 9, 2026, at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

The award recognizes their outstanding achievement in cinematic storytelling and technological innovation, most recently exemplified by their work on Apple Original Films’ F1. Following its wide theatrical release on June 27, 2025, F1 The Movie debuted as the #1 film at the global box office and has since grossed over $630 million worldwide, becoming the highest-grossing original feature of the year. It was produced by Apple Original Films and released theatrically through Warner Bros.

In addition to his work on Top Gun: Maverick and F1, Kosinski has earned a reputation as one of the industry’s most in-demand directors with other films including Oblivion, Tron: Legacy, and Only The Brave, each demonstrating his unique brand of world-building and visual storytelling while seamlessly integrating cutting-edge technology with intimate, character-driven emotion.

Academy Award nominated Bruckheimer (Top Gun: Maverick was his first personal Oscar nomination in a long career) – whose credits include Pirates of the Caribbean, Top Gun, National Treasure, Bad Boys and Beverly Hills Cop franchises – has spent decades shaping blockbuster storytelling, his films earning 47 Academy Award nominations and seven wins, along with five Grammys, four Golden Globes and 17 Emmy Awards.  His Top Gun: Maverick collaboration with Kosinski helped pave the way for their ongoing creative partnership on F1.

Established 16 years ago by the Lloyd Family and The Advanced Imaging Society, The Harold Lloyd Award honors filmmakers whose work embodies the pioneering spirit and technical artistry of Lloyd, the legendary silent film icon whose daring storytelling helped shape modern cinema.  Past recipients include Martin Scorsese, Ang Lee, James Cameron, Jon Favreau, Denis Villeneuve, Baz Luhrmann and Alexander Payne, among others.

The Lumiere Awards, voted on by the membership of the AIS, have been presented over the past decade to many of the industry’s most respected creative and technical leaders.  In addition to awards for motion pictures, episodic and new media content, the Society also presents awards for excellence in categories such as Best Musical Motion Picture, Best musical scene or performance, best immersive audio and more.
