Collin Morikawa announces major personal news after first win in 3 years
Collin Morikawa entered the weekend at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am eight shots behind leader Akshay Bhatia before putting together a masterclass in the final two rounds.
The two-time major winner carded a 10-under, 62 on Saturday, Feb. 14 with 11 birdies, five pars and a bogey to rocket up the leaderboard. On Sunday, Feb. 15, Morikawa kept the momentum going and sat in the leader a 22-under after carding back-to-back birdies on No. 15 and No. 16.
However, an errant tee shot on No. 17 eventually led to bogey, leaving the American star golfer locked in a tie with Min Woo Lee at 21-under while standing on the tee at No. 18. Needing a birdie to win, Morikawa did exactly what he needed to do while carding a five-under, 67 in the final round to win by one shot.

Immediately after the round, Morikawa revealed he and wife Kat are expecting their first child in May.
“Put golf aside, we’re actually expecting later this year, in a few months,” Morikawa said. “We just started telling people this week, and we said what a better way and the best way to announce it to the world, if I was able to come out and win.”
“There’s so much to life, there’s so much to enjoy. I’m hard on myself like I talked about yesterday but I’m just so thankful for the people around me, my team, Kat my wife, my parents, my brother,” Morikawa continued. “I’m speechless right now.”
In two previous tournaments this year, Morikawa missed the cut and finished in a tie for 54th. He ended a run of poor form this weekend, though, winning his first tournament since October 2023.
