Ariana Grande Contracts Covid During ‘Wicked: For Good’ Promo Tour

Ariana Grande has tested positive for Covid during the global press tour for Universal’s sequel Wicked: For Good.

The 2x Grammy award winner and Oscar nominee, posted a story on Instagram today that read “moments before Covid” with a shot of her appearance on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon.

Both Grande and Cynthia Erivo skipped red carpet interviews during the NYC premiere for Wicked: For Good, the latter feeling under the weather as well. Grande will reportedly be missing a few press ops due to Covid including an appearance on the The Kelly Clarkson Show (Erivo will do it solo now).

Both actresses tested positive for Covid at separate moments during production on the first Wicked.

It’s been whirl the Wicked: For Good posse of Erivo, Grande, Michelle Yeoh, Jeff Goldblum, Jonathan Bailey, etc., and filmmaker Jon M. Chu with a global tour that kicked off November 4 in Sao Paolo, Brazil, followed by Paris (November 7), London (November 10), Singapore (November 13) and NYC on Monday night.

Along the way, Grande was grabbed by a social media influencer/crazed fan Johnson Wen at the Singapore red carpet premiere for Wicked: For Good. Erivo shooed him away, with Australian citizen Wen getting sentenced to nine days in jail.

Wicked: For Good is bound to break Wicked‘s box office opening record before it as the best debut for a movie based on a Broadway musical. The global start is expected to be well in excess of $200 million with around $150 million coming from the U.S./Canada.
