AOC Confirms She Will Vote Against All Military Aid To Israel: ‘Consistently Ignores International Law And U.S. Law’
Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez confirmed she will vote against all military aid to Israel, including the Iron Dome, the system used to intercept missiles launched at the country.
In a social media publication, the lawmaker said the “The Israeli government is well able to fund the Iron Dome system, which has proven critical to keep innocent civilians safe from rocket attacks and bombardment.”

“Consistent with my voting record to date, I will not support Congress sending more taxpayer dollars and military aid to a government that consistently ignores international law and U.S. law,” she added.
The lawmaker went on to note that “[Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin] Netanyahu’s allies in the Knesset just approved a $45 billion defense budget, and the Prime Minister himself also asserted his interest in withdrawing from the MOU with the United States in January.”
As a result, she claimed, the country is “is fully within their ability to fund Iron Dome and other defensive systems.”
“Our allies who need our military aid must understand that we will provide it consistent with the Leahy amendment and the foreign assistance act,” she concluded.
The confirmation follows a report highlighting her stance during a Democratic Socialists of America endorsement call.
Israeli outlet Haaretz recalled that while AOC had not voted to increase funding for military aid to the country, she did vote against an amendment introduced by former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to cut funding for the Iron Dome. The initiative was supported by fellow Democrats Ilhan Omar, Al Green, Summer Lee and Rashida Tlaib.
Back then, she justified her vote by saying that the amendment did “nothing to cut off offensive aid to Israel nor end the flow of U.S. munitions being used in Gaza.”
AOC has also criticized the war in Iran Israel is prosecuting along with the U.S., saying President Donald Trump has “plunged the war into major global instability.”
Speaking to Meidas Touch at the Capitol, the lawmaker claimed that the “vast majority of Americans are against a war with Iran.”
“Two things can be true at the same time: We can acknowledge the brutal reality of the Iranian regime and their murdering of protesters. And we can also know for sure that a forever war will not resolve that issue,” she added.
