Andrea Iervolino Launches Made in Italy Film Export Federation Gathering 50 Italian Producers
EXCLUSIVE: Andrea Iervolino has launched a new federation dedicated to producers and professionals operating within the Italian film and audiovisual industry with a strong focus on international markets.
Bannered Made in Italy Film Export (MIFE), Iervolino said some 50 producers have signed up as members, with companies gathering under the new body including his The Andrea Iervolino Company, TAIC and Tatatu.
Further companies joining the new organisation include Kalicon, which is co-owned by Warner Bros. Spain and Italy President Stefano Torrisi; Emanuele Moretti’s L.A. and Rome-based company Motus Studios and Guglielmo Marchetti’s Notorious Pictures.
The federation is affiliated with Italian business association Confimpreseitalia. The association, which counts some 80,000 members, represents micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises and provides services including business development support, legal and tax consultancy, networking activities, and international competitiveness promotion.
Iervolino, who is the president of MIFE, said the federation’s mission is to enable Italian audiovisual content to compete in a structured, continuous, and organized manner on global markets.
“Italian cinema has extraordinary talent, history, and creativity,” said Iervolino. “However, for too long it has not been treated as a strategic export industry. MIFE was created to fill this gap: our goal is to bring Italian cinema to the world with the same strength with which Italy exports fashion, automobiles, and food.”
“My international experience demonstrates that, when properly structured, Italian cinema is competitive, credible, and highly attractive to global markets. MIFE will be the tool that guides Italian producers into a new, modern, and international industrial phase.”
MIFE’s Secretary General Federico Bettoni added that the new federation would work closely with Confimpreseitalia and as well as public institutions.
“MIFE was established as an operational, results-oriented federation. Our mission is to create concrete tools, relationships, and real opportunities for Italian producers who want to approach international markets in a structured way,” he said.
“We will work closely with Confimpreseitalia and public institutions to turn cinema into a genuine economic and employment engine, capable of generating value, continuity, and international reputation for Italy.”
