Trump Is ‘Bored’ With Iran War And Just ‘Wants to Move On’, White House Insiders Say
President Trump might be getting “bored” with the Iran war and is “ready to move on” according to a report.
MS NOW attributed the comments to an unnamed source, described by the network as a senior White House official. The official told the network that the president’s declarations that the war was already won were “mostly hyperbole,” driven by a desire for it to be over.
“[Trump] is getting a little bored with Iran,” the official told MS NOW. “Not that he regrets it or something — he’s just bored and wants to move on.”
This week Trump has repeatedly referenced peace talks with Iran. Iran has denied that any ongoing negotiations are happening and that the besieged country is simply reviewing points it received from the administration.
Trump then referred to Iran’s negotiators as “very strange” and told them to “get serious, before it’s too late.”
Trump has also vacillated between saying that the war was essentially won, as he did in a March 7 Truth Social post, and threatening further escalation while making demands on Iran. Axios reported Friday that the Pentagon is considering sending 10,000 combat troops to the region.
Ground troops might need to play a role in securing the Strait of Hormuz. The war has largely shut down shipping via the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20 percent of the world’s oil travels. Also, oil and natural gas infrastructure in the Middle East has come under drone and missile attacks from Iran, stoking fears of a potential global energy crisis.
A second White House official told MS NOW that Trump wanted to start focusing more on domestic issues and the November midterm elections.
Iranian official MB Ghalibaf wrote Thursday that Iran was prepared to fight any troops deployed by the U.S. “We are closely monitoring all US movements in the region, especially troop deployments. What the generals have broke, the soldiers can’t fix; instead, they will fall victim to (Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu’s delusions. Do not test our resolve to defend our land,” he stated.
