Hillary Clinton Insists She Has No New Info on Epstein While Blasting GOP for Not Holding Public Hearings

Former Secretary of State and First Lady Hillary Clinton said that she had little to add regarding Jeffrey Epstein, saying that she was unaware of his criminal activity and criticizing the Congressional Committee for avoiding calling prominent witnesses who might have salient information.

“I never flew on his plane or visited his island, homes or offices. I have nothing to add to that,” Clinton said in her opening statement, which she released via X.

Clinton had been called to testify before the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Clinton chastised the committee’s efforts, calling it a partisan exercise. She said the decision to call her to testify was a “fishing expedition.”

“You have made little effort to call the people who show up most prominently in the Epstein files,” she said. “Instead, you have compelled me to testify, fully aware that I have no knowledge that would assist your investigation, in order to distract attention from President Trump’s action and to cover them up despite legitimate calls for answers.”

The committee began investigating the Epstein case last summer, requesting documents and issuing subpoenas. Those efforts led to Congress passing the Epstein Files Transparency Act on Nov. 19. Earlier this year, the Justice Department released more than 3.5 million documents related to the case, but millions more documents still have not been released.

Epstein, a wealthy financier with ties to prominent individuals, was convicted for soliciting a minor for prostitution in 2008 as a result of a plea deal and served a 13-month sentence.

In 2019, Epstein was indicted on much more serious sex trafficking charges and killed himself in prison. Epstein’s primary accomplice and former girlfriend, Ghislaine Maxwell, was convicted of sex trafficking and is serving a 20-year-sentence.

“Like every decent person, I have been horrified by what we have learned about their crimes. It’s unfathomable that Mr. Epstein initially got a slap on the wrist in 2008, which allowed him to continue his predatory practices for another decade,” Clinton said in her statement. “My heart breaks for the survivors. And I am furious on their behalf.”
