Bianca Belair undergoing surgery after year-long injury nightmare

Bianca Belair is still dealing with the severe fallout from “WrestleMania 41,” nearly a year after the event took place. The former Women’s World Champion shared a crucial update on her health status via social media, revealing that she would be undergoing surgery on Monday to finally address the lingering issue.

“Finger surgery tomorrow,” she wrote, finishing her post with a praying emoji. The update confirms that “The EST of WWE” still has hurdles to clear before she can make her long-awaited return to the squared circle.

“Crushed Everything”

Belair has struggled with this injury for months, keeping her out of action for an extended period. In December, she noted during an Instagram Q&A that she would eventually need to get her finger fixed. However, in a recent interview with BET’s 106 & Sports, Belair explained the gruesome details of the trauma, clarifying that it was much more than a simple finger fracture.

“So I broke my knuckle, not my finger, I broke my knuckle, I broke the joint,” she explained. “It’s something that I thought was going to be a very straightforward 8-12 weeks. It’s been almost six months at this point.”

She went on to describe the specific moment the injury occurred during the Triple Threat match against IYO SKY and Rhea Ripley at “WrestleMania 41.”

“I was in a triple threat with Rhea Ripley and IYO SKY. And we were going to the top rope, because that’s what we do, and we came off the top rope and Rhea landed straight on my hand and it just crushed everything in my finger.”

A Frustrating Timeline

The mental toll of the injury has been just as significant as the physical pain. Belair expressed the difficulty of her body failing to heal on the timeline she expected.

“So it’s been a crazy journey. Being an athlete and having an injury, you rely on your body and now my body’s not doing what it’s supposed to do. But I’m hoping that I can be back in the ring soon.”

Her last official match remains the triple threat at “WrestleMania 41” in April 2025. Since then, her only appearance on WWE programming was a brief cameo at “WWE Evolution,” where she served as the guest referee for a match between Jade Cargill and Naomi.

WrestleMania 42 Status

With surgery taking place this week, Belair’s status for “WrestleMania 42” in Las Vegas is now in serious doubt. While previous reports indicated WWE hoped to have her involved in some capacity, a fresh surgery in mid-February suggests a wrestling role may be impossible.

As the rest of the roster prepares for the “Elimination Chamber” in Chicago, the women’s division is moving forward without one of its biggest stars. Fans will be watching closely for post-surgery updates to see if “The EST” can make a miraculous recovery before the biggest show of the year.
