‘Rooster’ Series Starring Steve Carell Unveils Release Date & Trailer
Bill Lawrence’s latest new series Rooster will grace screens starting March 8.
HBO Max released a trailer for the upcoming comedy show starring Steve Carell, Charly Clive, Danielle Deadwyler, Phil Dunster, John C. McGinley, Lauren Tsai and more.
Set on a college campus, Rooster centers on an author’s (Carell) complicated relationship with his daughter (Charly Clive).
The trailer goes more into detail, watching Carell, who students call Rooster based on his main character in his best-selling books, visit his daughter to try and help her with her relationship problems. Turns out her husband (Phil Dunster) has left her for a graduate student (Lauren Tsai).
“I know you’re going through something with your marriage,” Carell tells Clive.
“Everybody knows, this place is like a fishbowl,” Clive quips back before approaching a random passerby to ask him if he knows the gossip about her. He responds that yes, he does.

“She burned down the faculty house,” John C. McGinley’s dean figure tells Carell’s author, who says that that was an accident.
“She also assaulted a professor,” McGinley added. Cut to Clive punching Dunster in the face after he tells her he still loves her. “That was on purpose,” Carell says.
A montage of a lecture about his book follows, with Danielle Deadwyler moderating and a student counting how many times a character has sex in the book. At the end of the clip. A couple of fraternity brothers, Carell and Rory Scovel are chasing someone who seems to have stolen the school mascot costume.
