Hollywood Stuntman Sammy Horowitz Taps Into Real-Life Experiences For ‘Godshot’ With Ron Perlman & William Forsythe: “This Is My Rocky Story”
EXCLUSIVE: Gabriel Beristain’s action-drama Godshot, which is inspired by the life experiences of Hollywood stuntman Sammy Horowitz, has unveiled its ensemble cast as shooting officially gets underway.
Horowitz (Power Book IV: Force) stars alongside Ron Perlman (Hellboy), William Forsythe (Blue Streak), Kris D. Lofton (Power Book IV: Force), Joe Miñoso (Chicago Fire), former WWE superstar. Kevin Kesar, (aka Karrion Kross), Jon Seda (Chicago P.D.), Marila Lombrozo (Cobra Kai) and Sari Sanchez (NCIS: Origins).
The movie follows a recently released ex-con who finds an unexpected shot at redemption after being introduced to the high-risk world of Hollywood stunt work, only to realize the most dangerous stunt of all will be breaking free from his past.
The storyline takes inspiration from Horowitz’s true-life experiences, as a former ex-con turned pro-boxer, turned Hollywood stuntman and professional screenwriter who draws inspiration from his young adulthood in Chicago’s drug and gang world
Horowitz co-wrote the screenplay with Adam Pasen.
“Besides being based on much of my life, this movie is dedicated to the stunt community, Chicago, and all the people I’ve met along the way who helped bring this to fruition,” said Horowitz.
“This is my Rocky story — the very fact we were able to make it is proof that Godshots exist.”
The feature is produced by Warner Davis and Todd Friedman of Hemlock Circle Productions, along with Sammy Horowitz, Aiman Humaideh and Kimberly Hines.
“Godshot is the kind of character-driven action story we don’t see enough of, raw, grounded, and powered by real emotion,” said Davis. “We’re thrilled to bring this world to life with a cast and creative team that understands both the grit and the heart of the material.”
Friedman added: “This film shines a light on the unsung heroes of Hollywood stunts, and Sammy’s script, combined with Gabriel’s visual expertise, makes this an unforgettable cinematic experience,” added Todd Friedman.
The film is currently shooting on location in Chicago and release date to be shared at a later date.
