Ruben Östlund Set For ‘The Entertainment System Is Down’ Q&A At Göteborg Film Festival
The Göteborg Film Festival has announced that Ruben Östlund will take part in what they have described as an exclusive Q&A session at next year’s Nordic Film Market, where the filmmaker will discuss his seventh feature, The Entertainment System Is Down.
“The session opens a window into the world of Östlund’s highly anticipated seventh feature, The Entertainment System Is Down, offering insights into its artistic vision, production journey, and collaboration with the international ensemble cast,” the festival said in a statement.
The session will take place on Thursday, January 29, 2026, at the Göteborg Film Festival’s 27th Nordic Film Market.
The Entertainment System Is Down is a dark satire set on a long-haul flight between England and Australia, where the entertainment system fails, and passengers are forced to face the horror of being bored. The film shot this year in Hungary and wrapped in May.
Östlund has collected an international cast of high-power actors for the flick. Starring are Kirsten Dunst, Daniel Brühl, Keanu Reeves, Nicholas Braun, Samantha Morton, and Tobias Menzies.
Alongside them are Connor Swindells, Daniel Webber, Wayne Blair, Dan Wyllie, Lindsay Duncan, Allan Corduner, Sofia Tjelta Sydness, Erin Ainsworth, Myles Kamwendo, Elle Piper, Thibaud Dooms, Sanna Sundqvist, Elle Piper and Tea Stjärne, and Swedish artist Benjamin Ingrosso
Elsewhere at the 2026 Göteborg Film Festival, Agnieszka Holland will be handed the international Honorary Dragon Award. She will attend the festival to receive the gong and present her latest film, Franz.
The 2026 Göteborg Film Festival runs from 23 Jan to 1 Feb, 2026.
