The best PS5 games worth gifting (or adding to your own collection) in 2025

After five years on the market, there are currently thousands of games available on the PlayStation 5. If you’re not playing the games yourself, it’s hard to know where to even begin. That’s where we come in.

If you’re shopping for a gamer in your life (or yourself) and need advice on which games are worth it, this comprehensive list includes titles that are either best-selling or flying a bit under the radar. We’ve invested many hours of “research” playing through a lot of what you see here, and will continue to do so, so keep checking back for new additions.

It’s worth noting that although there are plenty of amazing indie games available through the PlayStation Store, this list will primarily focus on titles that are available as physical copies.

Adventure games like this don’t come along very often. Players take control of Astro and explore over 50 planets, trying to track down lost crew members. It won the Game of the Year award at the 2024 Game Awards.

Ratchet and Clank: Rift Apart video game case.

The Ratchet & Clank series has always been known for its crisp platforming and cartoonishly innovative weapons. Rift Apart sets the tone for what is to come with the franchise, as well as brilliantly showcasing the power of reduced load times and their impact on games. During my play through, I had more than a few moments where trying to distinguish between a cutscene and gameplay felt impossible and led to some funny demises. Rift Apart continues to age like fine wine and is a must-play action platformer for the PS5.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition for PlayStation 5.

As a lifelong RE-er, I’m thrilled to share that Resident Evil Village is one of the best of the series. There were a few duds in the series a few years back, but Village solidifies a return to form. With a new game set to release in February, there’s no better time to jump into the zombie-fighting fun.

Silent Hill F video game for PlayStation 5.

The Silent Hill series has been having a moment lately, and the release of this game certainly contributed to that. Players control a Japanese high school student in the 1960s as she fights off creatures and solves puzzles when a mysterious fog envelops her town.

One of the first launch games for the PS5, Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales, was the perfect supplement to Insomniac’s critically acclaimed first Spider-Man title. Miles’ Spiderman brings along a whole new kinetic power set to explore. If you enjoyed the first Spider-Man game than you will find plenty to love here. While the main story/campaign here is much shorter than the original, navigating the faithfully recreated New York City landscape with Miles will have you playing hours on end!

After selling in excess of 15 million copies worldwide, it’s safe to say that Helldivers 2 is one of the most popular PS5 games, despite only being released in 2024. It’s a third-person shooter where players join forces on missions all across a dangerous galaxy.

Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater "Tactical Edition" game box for PlayStation 5.

The first chronological game in the Metal Gear series gets the remaster makeover fans have been waiting for. If you have never played a Metal Gear Solid game, MGSD: SE serves as a fantastic entry point into the series. Part action shooter, part survival crafting, with incredibly rich, albeit sometimes confusing storytelling. This is a game well-worth the addition to your collection.

Organized crime never felt this good. Players assume control over Enzo, a young man making his way up the ladder in the mob in 1900s Sicily. Be careful who you trust in this immersive story, which feels straight out of The Godfather series.
