Zooey Deschanel Reveals How Fiancé Jonathan Scott and Ex-Husband Jacob Pechenik Get Along

Son of a nutcracker, Zooey Deschanel‘s relationship with her ex-husband is goals.

The New Girl alum shed some light into what the relationship is like between her fiancé Jonathan Scott and ex-husband Jacob Pechenik, with whom she shares daughter Elsie, 10, and son Charlie, 8.

“It’s awesome because my kids’ dad is a great dad,” Zooey said during the Dec. 16 episode of Call Her Daddy. “I always want to support him as a parent.”

The 45-year-old shared that things are so good between them that she even has a group chat with Jonathan and Jacob—who she married in 2015 before finalizing their divorce in 2020—and maintaining that strong connection has been key to the happiness of her kids.

“My kids thrive when they know that we all care for each other,” she explained. “We socialize and we’ve been on vacations together. We’ve been through a lot.”

The (500) Days of Summer actress went on to discuss some of the key elements that have helped her and Jacob unlock a healthy co-parenting relationship in the years since their breakup.
