European Film Commissions Network’s Location Awards Shortlist Includes ‘The Librarians: The Next Chapter’ & ‘Arctic Circle’

The field for the European Film Commissions Network’s two location awards has narrowed with the shortlist revealed. The EUFCN has two major categories, its overall Location Award and the Audience Location Award, which is voted for by the public.

Five locations have made the 2025 shortlist. Belgrade, Serbia, is on there, as a filming location for The Librarians: The Next Chapter. Figueira Da Foz in Portugal also makes the cut by serving as the location for the Portuguese drama series Broken Spies. Inari in Finland features as the location for Finnish crime-drama Arctic Circle, while Sangerhausen in Germany also appears for comedy-drama pic Phantoms Of July. La Palma in the Canary Islands rounds out the final five as host of the Norwegian-produced series also entitled La Palma.

Each film commission that is a EUFCN member can submit one location from their territory, and the longlist was revealed last month, as we reported at the time.

A jury of five industry figures will run the rule over the final quintet, having boiled it down from a nine-strong longlist. The winners will be announced at the EFM market during the Berlin Film Festival in February ‘26. The jury members are: Alessandro Bonino from Fremantle’s Wildside, Gail McQuillan from Blueprint Pictures, Caroline von Kühn from Oxbelly, and location managers Andrea Keener and Sue Quinn.

The public vote, meanwhile, opens today (Dec. 10) and closes Jan. 30. The shortlist was revealed at an EUFCN event the Art Hotel in Hoxton, in London’s East End last night.
