‘SNL’s Marcello Hernández & ‘Superman’s Skyler Gisondo Join ‘Shrek 5’ As Shrek & Fiona’s Sons
Some special news this Thanksgiving morning and that’s that Saturday Night Live‘s Marcello Hernández and Superman‘s Skyler Gisondo have joined the voice cast of Shrek 5 as Shrek and Fiona’s sons, Fergus and Farkle.
They join the franchise cast of Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy, Cameron Diaz, who are back in their respective roles as Shrek, Donkey and Fiona. Zendaya is also in on the fun as Shrek and Fiona’s daughter, Felicia.
The animated movie from DreamWorks Animation and Universal hits theaters on June 30, 2027.
Shrek 5 is directed by Shrek franchise veterans Conrad Vernon and Walt Dohrn. Vernon’s directing credits include Shrek 2, Madagascar 2 and is the voice of Gingerbread Man (aka Gingy). Dohrn (Trolls films) worked on the second and third Shrek films as a writer and artist and as Head of Story on the fourth film. Dohrn also voiced the character of Rumpelstilskin in Shrek Forever After.
Pic will be produced by returning producer Gina Shay (Trolls films), who produced Shrek Forever After and by Illumination CEO and Academy Award® nominee Chris Meledandri (Despicable Me and Minions franchise, The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Sing and Secret Life of Pets films). The film will be co-directed by Brad Ableson (Minions: The Rise of Gru, The Simpsons).
The four Shrek movies have minted close to $3 billion around the world, with the first movie in 2001 winning the first ever Oscar for an Animated Feature. The movie spawned a global live-touring show, an award-winning Broadway musical that earned eight Tony nominations and 12 Drama Desk nominations, plus an immersive, top-tourist destination in London and a popular events and attractions across Universal Studios Parks worldwide.
